STI Electronics Does Ice Bucket Challenge for Parkinson’s Research
MADISON, AL — September 2014 — STI Electronics, Inc., a full service organization providing training services, analytical and failure analysis, prototyping, and small- to medium-volume PCB assembly, is pleased to announce that it held an Ice Bucket Challenge fundraiser for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. STI employees raised $821 in just a few days and David Raby, President & CEO of STI, matched the employee contribution. As a result, $1,642 was donated to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
Mark McMeen, STI’s VP of Engineering Services commented, “We did a twist on the Ice Bucket Challenge to honor Jim Raby who has given so much to the industry, STI, and its employees specifically. The employees were excited to be able to give back to Jim by raising money for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.”
Diana Bradford, STI’s VP Operations/Training Resources commented, “Jim has valiantly battled Parkinson’s disease for years and continues to be quite the inspiration to everyone he comes in contact with. Rep. Brooks’ visit was coordinated by IPC as part of its “Meet the Policymakers” program, through which IPC government relations staff arrange opportunities for IPC members to host elected officials at company locations.

STI Electronics, Inc., a full service organization providing training services, electronic and industrial distribution, analytical and failure analysis, prototyping, and small- to medium-volume PCB assembly, was bestowed with the highest corporate honor during a luncheon at the IPC APEX EXPO®. IPC – Association Connecting Electronics Industries® presented STI Electronics with the IPC Stan Plzak Corporate Recognition Award.
Named after a former IPC Board Chairman who was a founding member of the Electronics Manufacturing Services Industry Management Council, the Stan Plzak Award recognizes an IPC member company in the electronics assembly industry that has taken the initiative to actively contribute to enhancing the industry while demonstrating support of IPC though participation in technical and/or management programs.
STI Electronics has been an IPC member since 1985 and, though a small-sized EMS company, has had an big impact on IPC. Nearly all of its staff are active with IPC, with six employees actively engaged in dozens of standards development committees. In addition, the company has several IPC specialists in its CM and Engineering Division as well as a multitude of certified trainers. A leader in the industry that is always helping set the bar high, STI Electronics served as a primary development partner for IPC’s Certification Quality Initiative that was launched in 2013.
