In his new role, Harold will be responsible for developing a centralized sales effort for all three divisions of STI. Harold brings a great deal of experience in sales engineering, account management, design and development support, and project management. He has demonstrated success in relationship building with engineering, purchasing and upper management by ensuring that customer requirements are met with profitable solutions.
 
“We are excited to announce Harold Breen as STI’s new Business Development  / Sales Manager. Having a centralized sales effort will benefit our customers as well as STI by exposing our customers to all available services/products, and thus allowing STI to become a valued partner and resource,” said David Raby, President & CEO.
 
Breen joins STI from Innovative Manufacturing Solutions (IMS) LLC, where he consistently maintained the highest gross margin contribution for products sold over the entire sales staff. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management from the University of Montevallo in Alabama.

Frank Honyotski Celebrates 10 years with STI

Honyotski began working at STI on May 15, 2000 as a Master Instructor for Training Services. He joined STI from Pace Inc., where he worked as a Training Manager and was involved in the development and teaching of rework, repair and production techniques, and education of customers and industry representatives on how to utilize these techniques. Frank also served as an instructor and a Senior Electronics Technician for the Navy’s Miniature/Micro-miniature Repair (2M) Program from 1993 until 1997.
 
“Frank does an outstanding job in the classroom and is always willing to go the extra mile to make sure STI customers are happy. He has been a tremendous asset for STI and we look forward to the next 10 years with Frank,” says Pat Scott, Director of Training Services. 
 
Frank is accredited by the IPC as a Master Instructor for IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-7711/21 and J-STD-001. He conducts IPC Certification Training at the STI training site located in Madison, AL. He is also responsible for conducting on-site training classes for STI customers, and coordinating the materials, equipment needs and shipment of equipment when required by the customer.

Brandon joined STI on May 1, 2000 as an Outside Sales Representative, primarily covering electronic distribution. He is currently responsible for Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi.  Champion graduated from Jacksonville State University with a BS in Business Management. Immediately after graduation, he began working at STI in outside sales.
 
“Brandon is a great asset to STI and is an outstanding sales person.  In celebration of Brandon’s 10th Anniversary, STI presented him with a travel voucher that can be used for a cruise or travel destination of his choice.  We look forward to the next 10 years with Brandon,” said David Raby, President & CEO.

STI announces the addition of the Heller 1913MKIII Convection Reflow/Curing Oven to its Microelectronics/Cleanroom.

STI announces the addition of the Heller 1913MKIII Convection Reflow/Curing Oven to its Microelectronics/Cleanroom.
 
The lead-free certified Heller 1913MKIII features 26 independently controlled heating zones. The system features PID control to ensure  +/- 1°C temperature stability, and real-time profiling with SPC software. The closed-loop nitrogen control system provides multiplex monitoring at three independent locations and an oxygen PPM monitor. In addition, the switchable drive system features a fast-speed drive reflow system and a slow-speed drive curing system.
 
“The latest addition to the Microelectronics ISO Class 6 Cleanroom is yet another demonstration of STI’s commitment to deliver the highest quality services and products to its customers.  Procurement of the Heller 1913MKIII, an extended zone convection oven with a closely monitored inert environment, enables the manufacturing and assembly of more robust microelectronics assemblies for high-rel electronics,” stated Casey Cooper, Microelectronics Lab Manager at STI.
 
STI’s 2,000 sq. ft. Microelectronics Lab is certified in accordance with Nebb Procedural Standards per the requirements of ISO14644-1:1999 for ISO Class 6 (Class 1000) Manufacturing Cleanroom for Electronic Hardware.  It meets the requirements to produce military and medical devices that require cleanroom manufacturing standards and practices.
 

Mel Parrish Elected as Chair to the TAEC for IPC

STI is proud to announce that Mel Parrish has been elected Chair to the Technical Activity Executive Council (TAEC) for IPC.

STI is proud to announce that Mel Parrish has been elected Chair to the Technical Activity Executive Council (TAEC) for IPC. This important position for IPC has a term of two years and the TAEC provides guidance for IPC activities and all of the IPC technical committees and task groups. 
 
After retiring from the Air Force as an Electronics Curriculum Designer, Mel began working in standards development and training while working for the Navy at China Lake during the generation of WS6536 through MIL-STD-2000. Mel has been active in IPC technical committee work for over 23 years, and is currently General Chair of the Product Assurance, which includes many important committees and documents such as IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620, IPC-7711 and others.
 
Mel has served in a leadership position for IPC-A-610 beginning with Revision A, which is now newly revised and published as IPC-A-610, Revision E. He has been a member of the TAEC and Committee Chairman Council for over ten years, and his experience and contributions to the electronic industry are commendable.  Mel Parrish has been with STI for almost ten years, and is the Director of Training Materials, as well as FSO.

Mel received the award for his leadership of the 7-30 Product Assurance General Committee and guidance to the task groups that developed IPC-610E; IPC-A-600H, Acceptability of Printed Boards; IPC-AJ-820, Assembly & Joining Handbook, and related support documents.
 
STI recently was awarded a contract with IPC to update the existing IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 training and certification programs from the D to the recently released E revision of the standards. STI has extensive experience in curriculum development and has worked with IPC numerous times in previous years to develop and/or update curriculum for IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, IPC-A-620 and IPC-7711/7721. The two program updates are being developed concurrently with betas to be conducted from April-June 2010.

Pat Scott is the Director of Training Services for STI Electronics, Inc. Pat joined STI’s Training Team in January 2001 coming from Electronics Training Advantage (ETA) as Director of Training. Pat has twenty years of experience in Electronics Manufacturing, Technical Instruction, and Instructional Systems Development.Pat gained her experience at Hughes Aircraft Co., Soldering Technology Training Facility (China Lake), and the Electronics Manufacturing Productivity Facility (EMPF).Pat is accredited by the IPC as a Master Instructor for IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC 7711/21.
