Press Release
STI announces that ENDICOTT, NY — Endicott Interconnect Technologies, Inc. (EI) has delivered a complex, ruggedized PC board to STI Electronics, Inc.
STI announces that ENDICOTT, NY — Endicott Interconnect Technologies, Inc. (EI) has delivered a complex, ruggedized PC board to STI Electronics, Inc. (STI) designed to meet the unique temperature, reliability, performance, vibration and G-force requirements for a space application. EI, with support from STI, developed a unique method of fabricating a double sided PC board with a single tier cavity on a 50 mil copper core. The single tier design allows STI to wire bond their semiconductor module, also fabricated by EI, to the copper core, which in turn provides both heat dissipation and rigidity.
“EI has successfully completed the substrate fabrication of STI’s new IC/DT® prototype using STI’s patented packaging technology Imbedded Component/Die Technology (IC/DT®) and patented design guidelines (US Patent No 7,116,557),” stated Casey Cooper, Electrical Engineering Manager at STI.
“Our engineering and process teams appreciate the opportunity to collaborate on this project. With STI’s assistance, many technical challenges were overcome, allowing us to ship these boards well ahead of schedule and to have passed STI’s assembly test requirements,” commented Ash Bhatt, New Products Program Manager at EI.
“STI is pleased to assist EI with the challenges of multiple cavity/multiple tier designs by sharing our expertise in the successful design and fabrication of similar boards,” stated Mark McMeen, VP of Engineering Services at STI.
Sales Record Broken Two Months Running
STI Electronics, Inc., a full service organization providing training, distribution, consulting, laboratory analysis, prototyping, and small- to medium-volume PCB assembly, announces that September 2009 was the company’s best sales
STI Electronics, Inc., a full service organization providing training, distribution, consulting, laboratory analysis, prototyping, and small- to medium-volume PCB assembly, announces that September 2009 was the company’s best sales month in its 27-year history. STI recently celebrated August 2009 as its best month ever, and has now broken its sales record yet again in September.
The combination of the company’s three core businesses contributed to the accomplishment. STI’s Engineering Services include failure analysis, microelectronics and the analytical lab, as well as prototype and small volume manufacturing. STI’s Training Services include hands-on training and certification, as well as training materials. Finally, the company’s Distribution area sells equipment and consumable supplies to electronics and industrial manufacturers.
“I appreciate our customers and employees, and their belief and support in STI’s vision and purpose. Our goal has never been just to get bigger but to serve our customers in a way that meets and exceeds their expectations. We are accomplishing that goal and as a result the growth and increased revenue is following,” said David Raby, President & CEO.
The goal of STI is to meet or exceed any standards of workmanship demanded by its customers. No one in the industry is better prepared to meet the expanding standards of quality required in today’s competitive market than STI Electronics. The company protects customers’ proprietary designs and right to privacy, especially those relating to PCB assembly services for the military in which defense and security issues are key.

Jim D. Raby, P.E. held a successful presentation at SMTA International. The presentation was held during session ET3 titled, “System in Packaging (SiP), which took place Monday, October 5, 2009 from 1-2:30 p.m. in the California room at The Town and Country Resort and Convention Center in San Diego.
The paper titled “Imbedded Die Assembly Process, Is It Ready Yet?” was co-authored by Mark McMeen, V.P. of Engineering Services, and Casey H. Cooper, Electrical Engineering Manager. The discussion was well attended. The presentation was a success and very well received by the audience.
Military and aerospace electronics providers continue to push the technological envelope to design and manufacture leading edge electronics for today’s DoD users. Current design problems are not driven by circuit design capabilities, but by an inability to reliably package these circuits within size and weight requirements outlined by the system level specifications. Innovative packaging techniques are required to meet the increasing size, weight, power and reliability requirements of the DoD without sacrificing electrical, mechanical, or thermal performance.
Emerging technologies, such as those imbedding components within organic substrates, have proven capable of meeting and exceeding these design objectives for meeting size, weight and power requirements. The ability to design smaller and lighter circuit board assemblies with increased power and reliability than conventional SMT boards has a future in the electronics of tomorrow.
Imbedded Component/Die Technology (IC/DT®) addresses these design challenges through imbedding both active and passives into cavities within a multi-layer PCB to decrease the surface area required to implement the circuit design and increase the robustness of the overall assembly.
This paper discussed the design methodology and validation/test data gathered during the implementation of IC/DT® in a mixed-signal prototype. The prototype designed and assembled using IC/DT® processes was subjected to reliability testing and ultimately demonstrated in a test flight. The results from this testing as well as the future designs utilizing IC/DT were presented.

STI Electronics, Inc., a full service organization providing training, distribution, consulting, laboratory analysis, prototyping, and small- to medium-volume PCB assembly, announces that it has been listed number 3450 on the 2009 Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in America.
STI Electronics is again part of an elite group that has included companies such as Microsoft, Timberland, Intuit, Jamba Juice, Oracle, and UnderArmour. Many of today’s most successful U.S. companies received their first national recognition when they appeared on the Inc. list.
The Inc. 5000 is a comprehensive listing of the fastest growing companies in America — the economy has not slowed the growth of these 5000 companies that range across industries from construction and manufacturing to IT services and business services, for a combined revenue of $185.4 billion and 334 percent growth. The Inc. 5000 is an expansion of the Inc. 500, which Inc. introduced in 1982. The Inc. 5000 includes the Inc. 500 but digs deeper to offer the most comprehensive look at the entrepreneurial engine driving the U.S. economy.
STI Electronics has been listed on the Inc. list three times in the past. The company was number 409 in 1998, 468 in 1999, and 4675 in 2008. Their latest accomplishment of running one of the nation’s fastest growing companies in 2009 will be celebrated at the 28th Annual Inc. 500|5000 Conference and Awards Ceremony, which will be held September 23-25, 2009 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Washington, D.C.
“I’m excited to be named on the Inc. 5000 list for our fourth time. It is the result of a great group of employees working together in a constantly changing and challenging environment. We are now in a new larger facility which will allow us to grow even faster in the foreseeable future. I’m excited about this award for our past growth but even more excited about our future,” said David Raby, President and CEO of STI Electronics, Inc.
STI’s mission is to be the total solutions partner for its customers in the electronics industry and related services.
